The National Business Review Supreme Car of the Year 2011 is the Audi A6. State-of-art technology is now being embraced by high-quartile buyers in a smaller footprint.

Audacious: The new Audi A6 has finally shed its low-key styling for a much sharper, dynamic look. The front end has been given plenty of treatment, with angular headlights that give the car a distinctive look. Inside is the latest generation of Audi’s Multi Media Information system which can be tricky to get used to but is still more intuitive than BMW’s iDrive system. The A6is available with three engines, one petrol and two diesels. The petrol engine is a 3 litre V6 with 220kW and uses 13% less fuel than the previous engine, which produced 213kW. The V6 turbodiesel engines are 3 litres in capacity but differ in power outputs. The more powerful engine produces 180kW, with a 16% improvement in fuel economy over the previous engine, while even the entry level diesel still produces 150kW and 19% less fuel than the previous model. Audi A4 and Audi 80 – Audi Naples is proud Audi celebrates its ten millionth midsize car

Midsize Audi models are proven champions and have been for 39 years. Four generations of both Audi 80 and Audi A4 since 1972.

The models in Audi’s midsize class – the Audi A4 and its predecessor, the Audi 80 – constitute the heart of the brand. The company recently celebrated a true milestone in production. In early October, the ten millionth midsize Audi rolled off the assembly line: a Misano Red Audi S4 with a black and alabaster-white interior and a V6 engine generating 245 kW (333 hp) of output.

“Ten million midsize vehicles is an achievement which makes us thrilled and proud,” says Brian Massoll, General Manager of Audi Naples. “Thanks to Audi’s sophisticated technology and excellent quality, the Audi A4 is one of our bestsellers, and we know we will continue this success, especially as a modified version of the Audi A4 will soon be launched.”

Audi has been producing the A4 model family at its Ingolstadt site since 1994 and, since 2007, via the “production turntable” in Neckarsulm, as well. The Audi A4 sedan, the A4 Avant, the A4 allroad quattro, the S4 sedan, and the S4 Avant roll off the assembly line in Ingolstadt. A certain number of A4 sedan models are produced at the Neckarsulm site.

“The Audi A4 family ensures that capacity utilization will remain high in the long term at our key plants in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm – and therefore ensures job security,” explains Peter Mosch, Chairman of the General Works Council at AUDI AG. Midsize Audi models are proven champions – and have been for 39 years. The 2012 Audi A4 delivers refinement in both appearance and road manners.

The Audi A4, available at Audi Naples, returns with minimal changes for 2012 that are limited to a few previously optional features becoming standard along with revisions to the options packages.

While we’ll rarely (if ever) turn down an abundance of horsepower and torque, we also appreciate a car that hits that elusive sweet spot of power and efficiency. Among entry-level luxury sedans, the 2012 Audi A4 is one such car.

Atypically for the entry-level luxury class, the A4 comes with only one engine choice: a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. This might seem like an odd choice given every other competing model has a six-cylinder, but the reality is that the A4 gains a lot more than it loses by this choice. In fact, the A4 manages to meet and even beat its base-model competitors when it comes to acceleration and fuel economy. Agile handling also contributes to the A4′s balanced nature, with a favorable blend of sport and comfort.

The A4′s real strength lies in its high-quality cabin. Audi makes use of best-in-class materials and a restrained design aesthetic to create a sumptuously modern interior. Naturally a range of upscale features is either standard or optional, including navigation, a premium sound system and Audi’s MMI electronics interface (although MMI without navigation can be unintuitive to use). Cargo space is about average for the segment, but for those who need more utility, there’s the handsome A4 Avant wagon.

Intuitive standard control layout; wagon has limited cargo capacity. In total, it’s easy to see why we consider the 2012 Audi A4 to be a top choice among entry-level luxury sedans. But it has some stout competition to overcome — each with its own set of advantages. The BMW 3 Series pretty much defines this segment and offers a higher level of driver engagement. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class emphasizes luxury and impeccable build quality, while the Infiniti G sedan offers more power for less money. But if you’re looking for an artful blend of all of the above, we’d suggest giving the Audi A4 some serious consideration.

The 2012 Audi A4 is available in sedan and wagon (Avant) body styles. Both come in Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige trim levels. The high-performance S4 model is covered in a separate review.

The Premium trim comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof (panoramic on Avant), automatic headlights, automatic wipers, cruise control, foglamps, automatic climate control, eight-way power front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery, a dash-mounted Audi Multi Media Interface (MMI) and a 10-speaker sound system with a CD player, auxiliary audio jack and satellite radio. The Avant also adds split-folding rear seats. An optional Convenience package adds Bluetooth and an iPod interface, while the Style package includes bi-xenon headlights,
LED running lights, self-leveling headlights and bright metal exterior trim.

All of the above features are included in the Premium Plus trim, along with 18-inch wheels, sporty S line bodywork, three-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, driver memory functions, split-folding rear seats, auto-dimming mirrors and an enhanced trip computer. The MMI Navigation Plus package adds a navigation system with real-time traffic, digital music storage, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, voice controls, HD radio, a color trip computer screen and MMI controls located on the center console.

The A4 Prestige comes standard with adaptive headlights, a power liftgate (on Avant models), keyless ignition/entry, a blind-spot warning system, the Navigation package and a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system (optional on Premium Plus). Options unique to the Prestige include the S line package (19-inch wheels, summer tires, faux-suede seat inserts and special exterior and interior trim), the Drive Select package (which provides adaptive suspension dampers as well as adjustable settings for the suspension, steering and transmission), adaptive cruise control, a power rear sunshade and manual rear side sunshades.

The Sport package (also offered on the Premium Plus) includes a sport-tuned suspension, a three-spoke steering wheel, more aggressively bolstered seats and automatic transmission shift paddles. Optional rear side airbags are available on Premium Plus and Prestige trims only, but any A4 is eligible for wood interior trim.

Powering every 2012 Audi A4 is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 211 horsepower and an ample 258 pound-feet of torque. The sedan’s Premium and Premium Plus trim levels come standard as the 2.0T FrontTrak Multitronic, indicating it has front wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). All trims can be had as the 2.0T Quattro, denoting all-wheel drive and either a standard six-speed manual or optional eight-speed automatic transmission. The Avant is available only with Quattro and the automatic.

The A4′s acceleration is as brisk as other entry-level luxury sedans, returning 0-60-mph times in the mid-6-second range, as estimated by Audi. The Multitronic CVTs are a bit slower, at 7.2 seconds. EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2.0T FrontTrak is 22 mpg city/30 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined — very frugal for a luxury sedan. The 2.0T Quattro achieves a still-impressive estimated 21/29/24 with the automatic and 21/31/25 with the manual.

Standard safety features on the 2012 Audi A4 include antilock brakes, traction and stability control, front seat side airbags and side curtain airbags. Rear-seat side airbags are optional on the Premium Plus and Prestige, while a blind-spot warning system is optional on the Prestige. Also available is an “Active Braking Guard” feature that’s part of the adaptive cruise control optional on the Prestige. If an imminent collision is detected, the system alerts the driver and primes the brakes for full stopping power.

In government crash tests, the A4 earned an overall rating of four stars out of a possible five, with four stars for overall frontal crash protection and five stars for side crash protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the A4 its highest rating of “Good” in both frontal-offset and side impact crash testing, as well as roof strength tests, and that was without the optional rear-seat airbags.

Among entry-level luxury sedans, the 2012 Audi A4′s cabin is regarded as one of the best in its class. The interior’s austere design lends an air of adult seriousness, while the top-notch materials send a message of sophisticated refinement. The use of real leather as standard equipment also gives the Audi an advantage over its competitors from BMW and Mercedes, which use vinyl leatherette.

Most MMI infotainment functions are conveniently situated around the shift lever on models equipped with the navigation system, but cars without navigation have MMI on the dash, which is far less convenient and user-friendly. Navigation-equipped cars also get the newer, improved version of MMI. The A4′s other controls are generally intuitive and well laid out, though accessing certain features can be an exercise in frustration. Adjusting something as simple as the fan speed, for example, is a two-step process.

Audi Naples announces the 2012 Audi R8 ranks 3 out of 8 Exotic Sports Cars.

This ranking is based on our analysis of 51 published reviews and test drives of the Audi R8. Reviewers love the 2012 Audi R8 for its impressive performance and aggressive styling, but unlike some other exotic sports cars, the R8 is also comfortable.

The 2012 Audi R8, available at Audi Naples located in Naples, FL., continues to impress reviewers with its exotic sports car performance and comfortable ride. The R8’s combination of an adaptive suspension, which adjusts to road conditions and driving style,and road-gripping all-wheel drive make this Audi a competent performer, but reviewers say that those features also make it a sports car that you could use as a daily driver.

Kelley Blue Book writes, “It’s an incredibly capable performance machine, yet every bit as luxurious as it is sporting.”

The R8 has three engines available for 2012, and while only 90 U.S. buyers will be able to purchase the 560-horsepower R8 GT, reviewers say that the base 430-horsepower R8 4.2 is a competent performer and an excellent value in its class. The R8 5.2 is no slouch either with 525 horsepower on tap.

A six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automated manual transmission is available on the 4.2 and 5.2 trims, while the R8 GT gets the automated manual as standard equipment. Most reviewers prefer the standard manual transmission, saying that the automated manual can be a bit sluggish.

The 2012 Audi R8 comes in either coupe or Spyder (convertible) body styles, and is available in three different trims that differ based on their performance capabilities. The R8 4.2 comes with a 4.2-liter, 430-horsepower V8 engine and a six-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automated manual transmission is optional. The R8 4.2 coupe starts at roughly $114,000, while pricing on the 4.2 Spyder begins slightly less than $128,000. Standard equipment on the 4.2 includes heated, 10-way power-adjustable seats, Bluetooth and a seven-speaker stereo with an auxiliary input jack, satellite radio and a six-disc CD changer. Options on the R8 4.2 include navigation, an iPod connection, 12-speaker Bang and Olufsen stereo and Audi’s Convenience Package, which adds features such as a backup camera and front and rear parking sensors.

If you want more power, opting for the R8 5.2 will get you a 5.2-liter, 525-horsepower V10, as well as additional standard features that include LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors with backup camera, navigation and a 12-speaker Bang and Olufsen stereo with an iPod connection. The R8 5.2 coupe starts at $149,000, while the 5.2 Spyder rings up at less than $163,000.

New for 2012 is the limited-production Audi R8 GT, which starts at almost $197,000? The R8 GT weighs in at 180 pound less than the R8 5.2 and features a 560-horsepower, 5.2-liter V10 engine; six-speed automated manual transmission and sport-tuned coil-over suspension. Audi says in a press release that the R8 GT has a top speed of 199 mph and will sprint from zero to 62 mph (100 km) in just 3.6 seconds. Only 333 R8 GTs will be

Supercars are a rare breed. They have the ability to turn the heads of the most jaded of automotive enthusiasts and seemingly defy the laws of physics. Audi Naples reports best-ever September U.S. sales, marking ninth straight record-setting month of 2011

• September marks ninth record-breaking month of year with sales of 9,725, a 19.3% gain over the previous September record of 8,151 set in 2010

• Demand for the all-new 2012 Audi A6 increased 42.8%, Audi Q7 YTD sales enjoy 30.8% uptick

• Audi A3 TDI and Audi Q7 TDI accounted for 51% and 46.5% of sales mix; respectively

Audi of America today reported record September U.S.sales of 9,725 vehicles, topping the previous record of 8,151 vehicles sold in 2010. September 2011 marked the ninth consecutive month of record-setting sales for the brand in the U.S. market.

The favorable Audi performance in September was led by consumer demand for the all new 2012 A6, available at Audi Naples located 601 Airport Rd., S, Naples, FL, with a 42.8% increase on 1,124 vehicles sold when compared to August 2010 sales. Demand for the Audi A7, introduced this spring and recently named the Esquire Magazine Car of the Year for 2011, remained strong with 693 vehicles sold in the month. The all-new A6 and A7 feature Audi’s industry-leading navigation and safety technology, including MMI® Navigation plus with Google Earth™, Audi connect™ featuring available wireless Internet access and Audi night vision assistant with thermal imaging.

With sales of the new Audi A8 flagship sedan included, demand for the most luxurious Audi cars equaled 23% of the overall Audi sales mix in September.

Year-to-date sales of the popular Audi Q7 full-size luxury sport-utility vehicle increased 30.8% to 6,764 vehicles sold, when compared to 2010. The Audi Q7 TDI clean diesel model accounted for 46.5% of the sales mix in the lineup. Demand remained strong for the Audi A3, with an increase of 9.9% YTD sales compared to 2010. As consumers continued to show preferences for efficiency, the Audi A3 TDI clean diesel model accounted for 51% of the total A3 sales mix for the month.

The reintroduction of the Audi TT RS sports car helped spur total Audi TT sales to an increase of 153% from a year earlier with 210 vehicles sold in September. Audi TT YTD sales increased 27.1% to 1,662 vehicles sold.

Certified Pre-Owned sales of 2,871 vehicles mark the best September on record and the seventh-consecutive record month. Year-to-date sales of 28,389 put Audi on track to deliver one of the best CPO years on record.

For the record-setting month of September 2011, Audi recorded YTD sales increases of over 25% with four of its models: the Audi A8, the Audi Q7, the Audi R8 and the Audi TT. In addition, the Audi southern regions experienced strong gains, with YTD sales jumping
20% to 20,966 vehicles sold.

Audi Naples Announces 2012 Audi A6 Nabs Top Safety Pick Award

The 2012 Volkswagen Passat’s upscale cousin, the 2012 Audi A6, available at Audi Naples, located in Naples, FL, has earned the same accolade. We told you that the 2012 Volkswagen Passat received a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Like the Passat, the Audi A6 scored a rating of “good’ in four key tests: front, side, rollover, and rear crash protection. The A6′s final test was the rollover/roof strength test, in which the luxury car demonstrated its ability to withstand a force equivalent to 4.9 times the vehicle’s total weight.
In the rollover test, the IIHS considers any car roof that can withstand four times a vehicle’s own weight to be “good”. (The roof of the Passat, by comparison, withstood 6.3 times the car’s weight — though at roughly 3500 pounds, the Passat is slightly lighter than the 3900-pound A6.) In case you weren’t aware, a roof only has to be able to support 1.5 times a vehicle’s weight to meet federal standards.
To earn a Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS, vehicles like the 2012 Audi A6 must also have electronic stability control (ESC) as part of their standard package. Jumping that hurdle should be easy for every car, now that the feds have mandated that all passenger vehicles manufactured after September 1, 2011 must come with ESC.

Audi Naples reports best-ever August Audi U.S. sales

Audi sales in the U.S. year to date grew 15%. The luxury car brand has recorded best-ever months in 12 out of the past 13 months.

Audi of America today reported record August U.S. sales of 10,201 vehicles, topping the previous record of 9,182 vehicles sold in August 2010. August 2011 marked the eighth consecutive month of record-setting sales for the brand in the U.S. market, as well as the fourth-best month ever in company history.

The strong August 2011 results were buoyed by consumer response to the all-new 2012 Audi A6, as well as the stylish and technologically advanced 2012 Audi A7. Sales of the Audi A6 climbed 36.4% to 989 vehicles compared to August 2010 A6 sales. Demand for the Audi A7, introduced this spring, remained strong with 703 vehicles sold in the month. The all-new A6 and A7 feature Audi’s industry-leading navigation and safety technology, including MMI® Navigation plus with Google Earth, Audi connect™ with wireless internet access and Night Vision Assistant with thermal imaging.

The Audi A6, A7, A8 and Q7 – the brand’s entries in the top luxury vehicle segments – made up 28% of overall Audi sales in August.

Audi SUV models constituted a healthy 30% of overall Audi sales in August. Sales of the popular Audi Q7 full-size luxury sport-utility vehicle increased 28.6% YOY to 720 vehicles sold, when compared to August 2010.

The Audi Q7 TDI clean diesel model accounted for 45.5% of the sales mix in the lineup. Demand remained strong for the Audi A3, with 764 vehicles sold in August 2011. As consumers continued to show preferences for efficiency, the Audi A3 TDI clean diesel model accounted for 69% of the total A3 sales mix for the month.

The launch of the Audi TT RS sports car helped propel total Audi TT sales to an increase of 40% from a year earlier with 231 vehicles sold in August, while TT year-to-date sales increased 18.5% to 1,452 vehicles sold.

Audi Certified Pre-Owned sales of 3,169 vehicles mark the best August on record and the sixth-consecutive record month. Year to date sales of 25,517, an increase of 36.1% from 2010; put Audi on track to deliver the best CPO year on record.

For the record-setting month of August 2011, Audi recorded year-over-year sales increases exceeding 25% with five of its models: the Audi A3, the Audi A6, the Audi A8, the Audi Q7, and the Audi TT. In addition, the Audi Southern Region has experienced strong sales gains, with year-to-date sales jumping 16% to 15,635 vehicles sold.

“Closing in on a record-setting third quarter, sales continue to reinforce the notion that consumers are rewarding Audi for its industry-leading technology, differentiated styling and efficient performance,” said Brian Massoll, General Manager of Audi Naples, located in Naples, Florida. “I’m optimistic that 2011 will be another banner year for Audi Naples along with the entire the U.S. market.”
