HERNDON, Virginia, March 29, 2018 – The 2018 Audi Q5 and 2018 Audi A6 have been named “2018 Best Cars for Families” in their classes by U.S. News & World Report. Audi received the awards this week at the New York International Auto Show.
The annual U.S. News & World Report “Best Cars for Families” awards are determined by a combination of professional automotive reviews, safety and reliability ratings, seating and cargo volume and the availability of family-friendly features, such as in-car wireless internet and surround-view cameras. This year, 127 new cars from the 2018 model year were evaluated by U.S. News & World Report editors, with winners determined in 11 automotive classes. Audi tied for most awards won by an individual brand.
According to U.S. News & World Report, “The Audi Q5, the Best Luxury Midsize SUV for Families, and the Audi A6, the Best Luxury Midsize Car for Families respectively, both won in large part because their backseats are larger than the competition. That extra space makes it easier to install car seats, keep kids in boosters from kicking the front seats and gives teens or older relatives plenty of space to stretch out.” The release also noted that the Q5 and A6 have plenty of available driver assistance features, including automatic braking, surround-view cameras and lane keeping assist.
This is the third year the Q5 has been awarded “Best Luxury Compact SUV” by U.S. News & World Report, with editors praising the vehicle’s crash test scores, active safety features, standard quattro® all-wheel drive and infotainment features like Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility. Setting a new standard for the luxury SUV segment, the Q5 offers the sporty performance of a sedan with the versatility of an SUV, featuring standard quattro® with ultra® technology and space for up to five passengers.
The Q5 includes benchmark technology to help the driver more easily view and control the navigation and infotainment systems including standard Audi smartphone interface for compatible devices, MMI® all-in touch,® Audi connect® and available color head-up display. Available Audi virtual cockpit features a 12.3-inch display delivering vibrant color at 60 frames per second with NVIDIA® quad core processing power enhancing the infotainment view and navigating experience through large Google Earth™ images (requires Audi connect PRIME subscription) supported with 4G LTE (where available).*
The A6 offers attractive exterior design with S line® elements and a Singleframe® grille, along with LED daytime running lights and taillights. In addition to the 2.0T FWD and 2.0T quattro® variants, new for 2018, the A6 is offered with a revised 3.0-liter TFSI® V6 engine and quattro® all-wheel drive. Interior styling of the A6 includes a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles, an expansive wraparound dash with infotainment display, eight-way power front comfort seats and room for up to five passengers.
Infotainment features include available MMI® navigation plus with voice control and MMI® touch with handwriting-recognition technology, Audi advanced key for keyless start, stop and entry and available head-up display that projects driving information in the driver’s field of vision.
Both the Q5 and A6 offer a suite of standard and available driver assistance systems designed to help drivers navigate the road with confidence. Standard Audi pre sense® basic and city can help prepare the vehicle for impact in the case of an impending collision. Available Audi pre sense® rear helps monitor the traffic following the vehicle and takes similar actions to Audi pre sense basic, while Audi side assist provides blind spot monitoring through LED indicators on the exterior side mirrors.
