Driven By Devin // 2016 Audi TTS

Since 1998, Audi’s little 2-door sports car has captured the hearts and minds of millions with its bubbly structure and humble look. Three generations have produced three complete redesigns and three kinds of joy.

Now in its third generation, the TT is making a big splash in 2016.

IMG_3233Yellow. A color not often seen on one of the top luxury car makers in the world, or among any luxury car brands. Or any car brand for that matter.

Unique? Certainly. Bold? Definitely. Daring? Undoubtedly. Vegas Yellow is what Audi fittingly calls it, because it certainly looks like something you would see regularly in Vegas.

Audi refreshed the TT with a completely new redesign, inside and out, making it quite possibly one of the coolest new coupes on the road. Sharp edges and crisp lines define it, giving off a bold sports car vibe, but it still maintains that luxurious feel you expect from Audi.

With almost 300HP and a bright Vegas Yellow paint job, this 2016 Audi TTS is not for the faint of heart.

IMG_3227A powerful yet small 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 engine pushes close to 300 horses paired with Audi’s signature Quattro all-wheel drive. Unfortunately Audi doesn’t offer a true manual transmission in the TT line, but it is equipped with a smooth S-Tronic auto trans with the option for a “manual” mode in the form of those fun little paddles on the wheel. Throw it in manual mode and Dynamic drive select and you’ve got the perfect canyon carver. The TTS is an absolute blast to drive.

IMG_3245A completely renovated interior yields the look of a sports car but the feel of a luxury sedan. Refined and sharp. New digital climate controls clear up space in the center and are just plain cool.

Audi’s new mastermind technology is that of the Audi Virtual Cockpit, first deployed in the new TT. It takes away the center screen and places everything right under your nose.  Gauges are replaced by a 12.3inch high-resolution TFT screen with 3D graphics, powered by a quick processor to provide a seamless and responsive screen. It contains everything you need: speedometer, tachometer, vehicle information/settings, driver manual, navigation, Bluetooth, radio, and even the rearview camera. It can all be accessed by the steering wheel controls or voice control. In short, it is a pretty awesome system. We’re excited to see all the Audi models eventually become equipped with the virtual cockpit (The 2017 A4, 2017 Q7, and 2017 R8 are already equipped).

Basically, the TT is a must-have (or at least test drive) among the luxury sports car world in a small yet loaded inexpensive package.

This particular TTS features a Bang & Olufsen sound system, Fine Nappa leather interior with diamond stitching, a loaded Technology package -navigation, Wifi, backup camera, blind spot monitor, power folding heated mirrors, rear parking aid, side assist-, red brake calipers, 20″ wheel package, 4 driving modes, a power adaptive rear spoiler, multifunctional steering wheel with paddles, and so much more.
